How to use the new Screen view in macOS Pages

To use the new Screen View in Apple Pages on your Mac, you can turn on an optimized layout that hides or resizes elements like images, tables, and columns so you can focus purely on the text. Let’s look at how to use it:

How to Turn Screen View On or Off

  • Turn on Screen View: Open your document in Pages, then choose View > Enter Screen View from the menu bar at the top of your screen.
  • Turn off Screen View: Choose View > Exit Screen View. (Closing the document with Screen View active keeps it on the next time you open it).
  • Add a Quick Button: To add a Screen View button directly to your toolbar, choose View > Customize Toolbar, drag the Screen View button to your toolbar, and click Done.

What Happens in Screen View

  • Content Modifications: Elements like tables, charts, columns, line spacing, and body text are resized or hidden to fit your screen width.
  • Data Safety: Hidden or altered elements are not deleted; they return to their normal state as soon as you exit Screen View. A notification will appear when you turn it on if any content is hidden; click it for details.
  • Adjust Text Size: While in Screen View, go to View > Text Size and choose Auto, Bigger, or Smaller to adjust readability.
