The first touchscreen Mac laptop will see some changes to macOS 27 Golden Gate, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter.
It will be tweaked for finger-based usage and introduce a dynamic interface. Gurman says macOS 27 controls will be presented based on whether the user has been touching the display or the trackpad.
Touching buttons will also purportedly bring up menus around a user’s finger for quick selection. The Dock and Menu Bar will be optimized for touch input, as well. Gurman says the goal is to lets users switch instinctively between touch and trackpad inputs.
In an X post last week, Apple announced a “Pro and Tell” event for Wednesday, October 28 at 10 a.m. PT. It will be held in Los Angeles. The touchscreen Mac laptop will almost certainly be announced at the event.
