How to delete/merge duplicate photos in iOS 16

The Photos app in iPadOS receives its biggest update ever, offering new tools that make it easier to find what you’re looking for.

With iOS 6, your iPhone can finally find those duplicates and offer to merge them on its own, so you don’t have to do it manually.

To delete duplication photos on an iPhone running iOS 16:

° Launch Photos.

° Tap on the Albums tab on the bottom right hand corner.

° Scroll down to the Utilities section.

° Tap on Duplicates.

° You’ll see a Merge option.

° Select the images you want to “’merge” and the duplicate photos will be deleted.

  • This feature isn’t in ios16. Not sure if apple has lied to us or not but it’s not in iOS 16. My entire family has downloaded 16 and none of us can do this photo thing.

  • @anonymous, Apple did not lie. It’s on my phone. Possible explanations for why it’s not on yours is you don’t have any duplicate photos or your photo library is still indexing the pictures. When indexing is complete the duplicate album will show up.
