Rumor: iPhone SE update will be based on the same chassis as the upcoming iPhone 16

Apple is nearing production of an updated iPhone SE —that will become its new entry-level model, reports Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Rumors have said that the an upcoming iPhone SE update will be based on the same chassis as the iPhone 14.

However, according to the Weibo-based leaker “Fixed Focus Digital,” as noted by MacRumors, the backplate manufacturing process for the iPhone SE 4 is “exactly the same” as the standard model in Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 lineup, which is expected to be released in September.

The next gen iPhone SE is likely to be related along with iPhone 16 models in September or October. The rumor mill says that Apple plans to price it under US$500.
