Messages in iOS and iPadOS is one of the tools I use every day. However, sometimes it’s nice to silence/hide the app’s alerts. Here’s how to do this in iOS 26 and iPadOS 26:
Fast Swipe Method
- Open the Messages app.
- Find the chat you want to mute.
- Swipe left on the conversation.
- Tap the Hide Alerts button (the bell icon with a slash).
In-Chat Method
- Open the Messages app and tap the chat you want to mute.
- Tap the contact name or group icon at the top of the screen.
- Turn on the Hide Alerts switch.
