How to share and view health data in iOS 15’s Health app

With iOS 15, you can share your health data with family, friends, and healthcare providers (the latter is U.S. only.

About Health sharing

In the Sharing tab of the Health app, you can share any data you’ve stored in the Health app with up to five individuals. You control what data you share, and you can change it or stop sharing at any time.

If a friend or family member chooses to share their health data with you, you can also receive notifications when there are changes to their health data.

Here’s what you need

  • An iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 15 or later.
  • An iCloud account with Health turned on and two-factor authentication enabled.
  • The person you want to start sharing with must be saved in your Contacts. If you start sharing data with someone, removing them from Contacts doesn’t stop the sharing.

To set up sharing:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Health app.
  2. Tap the Sharing tab, then tap Share with Someone. Make sure that Health is turned on in your iCloud account.
  3. Search for a contact to share with. A name in blue indicates that the other person’s device supports sharing. Grey means their device does not support sharing.
  4. Tap See Suggested Topics or Set Up Manually.
  5. Choose the data you want to share.
  6. Tap Share, then tap Done.

The person you selected will receive an invite to begin viewing health data.

Share with healthcare provides (U.S. only for now):

  1. On your iPhone, open the Health app.
  2. Tap the Sharing tab, then tap Share with your doctor.
  3. Follow the onscreen prompts to select which topics to share with your doctor.
  4. Tap Share.

How to manage what you share and view

You can change what’s being shared, stop sharing, or stop receiving health data at any time. You can also update what notifications you receive from individuals who are sharing their data with you.

To stop sharing health data

On your iPhone, open the Health app.

Tap Sharing.

Select an individual or provider under You’re Sharing With.

Turn off a health topic to stop sharing that data.

You can also tap Show All Topics under any category to add additional data to share. To stop sharing all health data, you can scroll down and tap Stop Sharing. If you stop sharing entirely, your data is removed from the other person’s device or the provider’s health record system.

To stop receiving health data

  1. On your iPhone, open the Health app.
  2. Select an individual under Sharing With You.
  3. Tap Options in the upper-right.
  4. Turn off Stop Receiving Health Data.

If you want to stop receiving notifications, you can turn off Alerts, Trends, or Updates.
