Rumor: Apple Watch Extreme will have bigger screen, metal casing, more

It’s been reported before, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman today reiterated that Apple is working on an “extreme sports” version of the Apple Watch for extreme sports athletes that will pack  larger screen and a metal casing.

He says the “Apple Watch Extreme” (my term, not Gurman’s) display will measure in at almost two inches diagonally. This means it will have approximately 7% more screen area than the 45mm ‌Apple Watch Series 7‌, and a display resolution of 410 x 502 pixels.

Gurman adds that it will boast improved impact resistance and protection in the form of the aforementioned metal material that is stronger than aluminum, as well as a more shatter-resistant screen. Gurman says the Apple Watch Extreme is also going to have a larger battery to accommodate longer workout times. He thinks it will debut this fall alongside a “standard” Apple Watch Series 8 and a new Apple Watch SE.
