Reportedly, the upcoming 12.9 iPad Air will, alas, sport a LCD, not mini-LED, display

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says new iPads are due to arrive on Tuesday, and Apple should go all-in on making them into true laptop replacements.

Apple’s upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Air will feature an LCD display like its smaller sibling, analyst Ross Young says in a note to clients (as noted by MacRumors).

Previous rumors have predicted that the biggest iPad Air ever would sport a mini-LED display like the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. However, Young now says that it use leftover mini-LED display panels from the 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌, with the 10.9-inch model sticking with LCDs.

Based on previous speculation and rumors, you can count on seeing new iPad Airs, iPad Pros, a revised Magic Keyboard, and a third generation Apple Pencil at Apple’s May 7 “Let Loose” event. It will be held at 7 a.m. (Pacific) with a live stream available on Apple.com and on YouTube as usual. It’s dubbed “Let Loose” and shows an illustrated Apple Pencil.
