An upcoming Apple Watch (the Apple Watch X?) may use resin-coated copper.

One model of the upcoming Apple Watch update will sport resin-coated copper to allow for more durability, better water resistance, and a thinner logic board, acceding to DigiTimes Asia (a subscription is required to read the entire article).

It’s unclear if the report refers to the rumored Apple Watch X, which Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said would be the biggest redesign ever of the smartwatch.

The launch of the smartwatch will come in time for the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch. Gurman says Apple is trying to make the Watch X thinner than previous model. He adds that it could also include a new magnetic attachment system for attaching and swapping bands.

What’s more, Apple may Apple plans to apply new LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) OLED technology to the Apple Watch X. The This would allow very precise control of the amount of light that passes through each of the smartwatch’s panels. This should result in overall power savings increases.
