<p>Yesterday I posted a list of all of the wonderful folks we had received new or renewed pledges from. I am happy to say that at this time we're up to a total of $1,554 per month in pledges. That's a lot closer to the $3,000 a month we need in order to stay alive, and we thank all of you for opening your hearts <em>and</em> wallets.</p>

<p>Drones are big business. Whether you're a news organization trying to get shots of the new Apple headquarters building, a surfer wanting to get a different video angle, or a pro mountain biker who wants video for her sponsor, drones are providing high quality video with altitude. Now Apple's getting into the act, adding the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.apple.com/us-hed/shop/product/HJ3F2LL/A/dji-phantom-3-professional-camera-drone" rel="noopener noreferrer">DJI Phantom 3 Professional</a> (US$1,259.95) and <a target="_blank" href="http://www.apple.com/shop/product/HJ3E2LL/A/dji-phantom-3-advanced-camera-drone" rel="noopener noreferrer">DJI Phantom 3 Advanced</a> ($999.95) camera drones to the accessory lineup.</p>

<p>Amazon Prime members have always had the ability to do two things for $99 a year; get free regular shipping on all purchases and watch unlimited streaming video content on Amazon Prime Video. Today, Amazon added a new feature that will make it easier to watch that content when and where you want to. The updated and renamed <a target="_blank" href="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/amazon-video/id545519333?mt=8" rel="noopener noreferrer">Amazon Video app</a> (free) now includes a way to download movies, TV shows, and original content to your iOS device for offline viewing.</p>

But I think I've found the killer Apple Watch app (at least when you're drunk): <a href="https://appsto.re/us/ZEk_q.i">Shazam</a>.</p><p> </p>

<p style="margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px">While some Apple bloggers are already bragging about the total word count of their upcoming bloated iOS 9 reviews, we're fighting for survival. </p><p style="margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px">But thanks to a number of new supporters on <a target="_blank" href="http://patreon.com/AppleWorldToday" rel="noopener noreferrer">Patreon</a> as well as existing supporters who increased their monthly pledges, things are looking up a bit. But we really need for just about everyone who reads this site to make a pledge for continuing, monthly support of Apple World Today. Here's what we posted on Patreon yesterday afternoon: </p>

<p>Back to school means much more than getting new clothes, notebooks, and a box full of unused Crayola crayons. For a lot of students, it’s time to get a computer of some sort, and what better computer than a MacBook? But for parents on a budget, dropping at least a thousand bucks on a new MacBook is out of the question. Never fear, since it’s pretty easy to take even an old MacBook and update it so it’s a perfect school computer.</p>

<p>Perhaps you'd like to mirror your iPad or iPhone screen on your 60-inch HDTV, but you don't want to buy an Apple TV right now because a new one is just around the corner. If you already have one of those $35 all-purpose tiny computing devices called a <a target="_blank" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry_Pi" rel="noopener noreferrer">Raspberry Pi</a>, you're in luck. </p>

<p>Since iOS first appeared in 2007, people have hacked the operating system because they wanted their devices to "do more". Now that there are well over 1.5 million apps available that can do just about anything your heart desires, perhaps it's time for the jailbreakers to just cool it. Why? A <a target="_blank" href="http://researchcenter.paloaltonetworks.com/2015/08/keyraider-ios-malware-steals-over-225000-apple-accounts-to-create-free-app-utopia/" rel="noopener noreferrer">new piece of malware called KeyRaider</a> that only attacks jailbroken devices is a perfect example -- it has already been responsible for stealing the Apple account info on more than 225,000 devices.</p>

<p>Over the past day, you've probably noticed some little "Advertise Here" banners show up on the site, replacing the in-house ad spots we had produced in hopes of doing our own ad sales. That didn't work too well, so we've hitched our fortunes to a well-known online advertising firm called BuySellAds. </p>

<p style="margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px">Apple will hold a press event on September 9 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco (<a href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2015/8/27/an-apple-event-on-september-9-looking-more-likely-every-day">as rumored</a>), starting at 10:00 AM Pacific.</p><p style="margin-left:0px; margin-right:0px">What's going to happen? The invitation simply reads, "Hey Siri, give us a hint." We'll have your coverage so be sure to check back then!</p>

<p>Here's a riddle for you: What's both a coaster and an Apple Watch charger? Well, you won't want to use it as a coaster once you've tried it as an Apple Watch charger, but the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.bluelounge.com/us/stands/kosta" rel="noopener noreferrer">BlueLounge Kosta</a> (US$14.95) is a stylish and functional little stand that is pure design genius.</p>

<p>It appears that September 9, 2015 will be the date that Apple holds a press event to release the newest iPhones and possibly a new Apple TV. Rumors had been flying about a "reservation" made by an unknown company for a "trade show" to be held at the 7000-seat Bill Graham Civic Center in San Francisco between September 4 - 10. </p>

<p>Size isn't everything (ask Mighty Mouse or Ant-Man if you don't believe me). The <a target="_blank" href="http://www.inateck.com/2-port-usb-car-charger-with-mfi-lightning-cable/" rel="noopener noreferrer">Inateck 2-port Rapid Car Charger</a> (US$49.99 MSRP, available on Amazon (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WHI993C/appwortod-20/" rel="noopener noreferrer">affiliate link</a>) for $19.99) is a perfect example of an iOS accessory that doesn't take up a lot of space, but provides a ton of power.</p>

I played with it for a few days and found that it works quite well and has nice time-saving features. Here's our look at Watermaker 2.</p>
