<p>The iPhone 7 Plus gained 2.8% of all smartphone sales in China, according to Counterpoint Research — as noted by <a target="_blank" href="https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/15/apple-iphone-7-plus-second-best-selling-phone-in-china-in-2017.html?__source=twitter%7Cmain" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>CNBC</em></a>. The tech giant was the only foreign brand to have a smartphone model in the top 10 best-selling handsets in China in 2017.</p>

<p>A group of Israelis has filed a request with the Haifa District Court of Israel to file a class-action lawsuit against Apple, Intel, and ARM because of the "Spectre" and "Meltdown" <a target="_blank" href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2018/1/4/some-ios-tvos-devices-could-be-affected-by-a-chip-bug" rel="noopener noreferrer">processor exploits</a>. The six District Courts in Israel serve both as the appellate courts and also as the court of first instance for some cases (e.g. real estate or IP). </p>

<p>Apple remained in the fourth position for global market share among personal computer makers  and grew its shipments 7.3% in the fourth quarter of 2017, according to IDC The tech giant shipped about 5.8 million Macs during the quarter, per the research group.</p>

<p>Apple is working to reverse a Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruling upholding the validity of certain patents owned by VoIP-Pal. The tech giant claims that its opponent contacted senior administration officials and the judges presiding over the case, swaying the outcome of an inter partes review proceeding, according to <a target="_blank" href="https://www.law.com/therecorder/sites/therecorder/2018/01/11/apple-alleges-secret-lobbying-campaign-swayed-pto-trial/?slreturn=20180012084558" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Recorder</em></a>. </p>
