<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has filed for yet another patent (number 20190272650) — one of a dozen or so — that hints at future iterations of macOS and iOS devices that would allow you to control some user interface elements with your eyes, perhaps in conjunction with the rumored “Apple Glasses,” a head-mounted, augmented reality/virtual reality headset.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Revenues from streaming music grew 26% to $4.3 billion for the first half of 2019, according to a new report from the <a href="http://www.riaa.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA</a>). In June, Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue said Apple Music hit the 60 million subscriber mark.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple TV+ has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the Bryce Dallas Howard documentary <em>Dads</em>, ahead of its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, an individual with knowledge of the project tells <a href="https://www.thewrap.com/apple-bryce-dallas-howard-documentary-dads/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TheWrap.</a> Apple’s streaming service is due this fall. Pricing hasn’t been announced.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Siri, Apple’s personal digital assistant, has been re-written to "deflect" questions about feminism and the #MeToo movement, according to<em> </em><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2019/sep/06/apple-rewrote-siri-to-deflect-questions-about-feminism" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Guardian</em>.</a></p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">In a note to clients, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple will introduce its own tracking device, possibly dubbed “Apple Tag,” that will compete with products such as Tile at next week’s “By Innovation Only” event. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Last week, Google published a blog about vulnerabilities that Apple fixed for iOS users in February. On its <a href="https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2019/09/a-message-about-ios-security" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Newsroom page</a>, Apple says that “we’ve heard from customers who were concerned by some of the claims, and we want to make sure all of our customers have the facts.”</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">In a note to clients — as noted by <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/09/06/apples-app-store-had-a-great-summer-says-morgan-stanley" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a> — analysts at Morgan Stanley say the Apple App Store is seeing high revenue growth this quarter.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The U.S. government wants Apple and Google to hand over names, phone numbers and other identifying data of at least 10,000 users of a single gun scope app, reports <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2019/09/06/exclusive-feds-demand-apple-and-google-hand-over-names-of-10000-users-of-a-gun-scope-app/#75c3a1902423" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Forbes</a>. With Apple’s previous stances on privacy, it will be interesting to see how the tech giant responds. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">I remain dubious that Apple plans a “foldable” iPhone or iPad, but I could be wrong.. Smartphones, tablets, and wearables are all expected to see some form of foldable, flexible, or rollable screen technology over the coming years, as vendors try to shake up the markets and stimulate replacement cycles, according to <a href="https://www.abiresearch.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ABI Research</a>. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The Noise app in watchOS 6 is a health feature designed to help protect your hearing. It helps users understand the sound levels in environments such as concerts and sporting events that could negatively impact hearing. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Next week will see Apple announce new iPhones that, per some rumors, will have inductive charging that will allow your smartphone to share some battery power with accessories such as AirPods.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Actor Joseph Gordon-Levett is is set to star in, write, and executive produce a drama series for Apple TV+ dubbed <em>Mr. Corman</em>, reports <a href="https://variety.com/2019/tv/news/joseph-gordon-levitt-apple-series-1203325340/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Variety</a>. The streaming service is due this fall. Pricing hasn’t been announced.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has debuted a beta version of the Apple Music browser that’s available to all Apple Music subscribers.</p>

The tour launches in Seattle on Sept, 9 and runs through 40 dates, concluding in Florida in November.</p>
