<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Another day, another lawsuit. A company called Social Technologies has filed a second lawsuit that claims Apple can’t trademark the term, “Memoji,” reports <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/09/30/apple-accused-of-trademark-abuse-in-new-memoji-lawsuit" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInsider</em></a>.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has released iOS 13.1.2, iPadOS 13.1.2, and watchOS 6.0.1. The first two contain bug fixes and minor improvements.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">So much for disappointing iPhone sales rumors. Apple traded as much as 1.6% higher Monday after JPMorgan raised its price target on the company. The firm now expects the stock to climb 20% over the next 12 months, notes <a href="https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/apple-stock-price-could-spike-20-percent-iphone-sales-jpmorgan-2019-9-1028563619" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Business Insider</em></a>.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Future Media Conferences and SuperMeet have announced the return of the SuperMeets with the Boston SuperMeetUp! this November. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">I find this a little hard to believe, but a new report says that more folks are familiar with the Fitbit brand despite the Apple Watch’s dominance in revenue.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">In a note to clients — as noted by <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/09/30/apple-expected-to-release-ipad-pro-macbook-pro-with-mini-led-displays" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>AppleInsider</em></a> — analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple will release iPad Pros and MacBook Pros with mini-LED displays in 2020 or 2021.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The folks at <a href="www.smartish.com)" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Smartish </a>have revamped five of their inexpensive-but-impressive cases for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. I’ve had a chance to play around with the cases, so here’s my mini-review round-up.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">As you probably know by now, iPadOS allows you to use mice and trackpads with an iPad — although I’m miffed that <a href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2019/9/25/ipados-was-worth-the-wait-except-for-one-major-disappointment)" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">you can’t use a Magic Mouse</a>. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">There are more protective cases around, but the <a href="https://just-mobile.com/products/tenc-air-iphone-11-pro-max?goal=0_105d86588b-ef0751cb3c-99843645&mc_cid=ef0751cb3c&mc_eid=167c318080&variant=29531618869290" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TENC Air</a> for the new iPhones from Just Mobile offers reasonable protection at a reasonable price ($24.95). In fact, the price is five dollars less than the cases for the 2018 Apple smartphones. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">On a regular basis, <em>Apple World Today </em>posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Earlier we noted that, according to <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/apple-plans-to-bring-feature-length-films-to-theaters-11569579632" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>The Wall Street Journal</em></a><em>,</em> Apple has "made overtures to cinema chains and consulted with an entertainment executive" as it considers following a traditional theatrical release plan that would keep its films in theaters for weeks before availability on Apple TV+, the company’s upcoming streaming service. Now <a href="https://variety.com/2019/film/news/apple-theatrical-dates-anthony-mackie-hala-elephant-queen-1203352195/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Variety</em></a><em> </em>has given up an update on the situation.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has hired David Smoley, chief information officer of pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, for a vice president role, according to <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-09-27/apple-hires-astrazeneca-chief-information-officer-smoley" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em></a>. He’ll report to Mary Demby, Apple’s chief information officer.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">An iOS researcher with the Twitter handle @asi0mX has announced the <a href="https://twitter.com/axi0mX/status/1177542201670168576" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">release of a new iOS exploit named checkm8</a> that claims to have serious consequences for iPhone and iPad hardware, as well as Apple Watches.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has released iOS 13.1.1 and iPadOS 13.1.1. You can download them on your iPhone or iPad by going to Settings > General > Software Update. </p>
