Apple files for a patent for an AirPower-like wireless charging system

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has filed for yet another patent (number 10,396,578) that hints that, though it scrapped plans for the AirPower device, it’s still looking into a next generation wireless charging system. It’s for a wireless charging mat that wirelessly transmits power to an electronic device that is placed on the mat. </p>

Apple wants to help you lose weight with methods ‘beyond diet and exercise’

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">With its Health app, the HealthKit developer app,and Apple Watch features. Apple has focused a lot of its attention on the health and wellness field in recent months. Now the tech giant has filed for a patent (number 20190261669) for “methods and compositions to improve weight loss and cardiometabolic health beyond diet and exercise.”</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple is poised to start online sales of its devices in India within months, reports <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-28/apple-to-benefit-from-new-indian-rules-on-foreign-investment" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bloomberg,</a> quoting an unnamed “person familiar with the matte.” The tech giant would benefit from new rules making the world’s fastest-growing smartphone market more attractive to foreign brands, the report adds (a subscription is required to read the entire article).</p>

Apple pushes back against Japanese government’s mobile carrier discount changes

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Despite a 10.4% decline in the fourth quarter, Apple continues to dominate the smartphone market in Japan. According to the <a href="http://www.canalys.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Canalys research group</a>  its market share exceeded 50% for the first time in 2018. That’s up from 48% in 2017 and 48.2% in 2016.</p>
