<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">This sounds promising for Apple's rumored augmented reality (AR) head-mounted display (HMD), the so-called "Apple Glasses”: the global AR market size is estimated to grow from $10.7 billion in 2019 to $72.7 billion by 2024, expanding at a compound annual growth rate [CAGR] of 46.6%, according to <a href="http://www.researchandmarkets.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Research and Markets</a>.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">On a regular basis, <em>Apple World Today </em>posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they're popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">I missed this one in my patent research yesterday, but <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/20/01/24/apple-working-on-radical-imac-redesign-using-single-sheet-of-glass" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider </a>notes that Apple has filed for a patent (number 20200026327) for “electronic device with glass housing member” that hints at a radical design of the iMac.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">In celebration of Black History Month, Apple will offer <a href="https://www.apple.com/today/collection/black-history-month/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">“Today at Apple” sessions </a>in which participants can "learn from dynamic creators who are changing cultural narratives through visual arts, photography, poetry, dance, film, and more.” You can join creative sessions Feb. 1–29. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The latest addition to the Apple Arcade line of gaming titles for Mac, iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV devices. It’s available at the respective app stores.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The Instant Pot 6-Quart Pressure Cooker reigns as the most purchased product of the 2019 holiday season, according to <a href="https://c212.net/c/link/?t=0&l=en&o=2701306-1&h=3270513039&u=http%3A%2F%2Fusebutton.com%2F%3Futm_campaign%3D2019%2520holiday%2520report%26utm_source%3DPress%2520release%26utm_content%3DHomepage&a=Button" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Button</a>, a mobile commerce optimization platform. IT was followed by Apple AirPods in second place and LEGO Classic Creative Fun Building Kit in third place. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">The <a href="https://www.wsj.com/articles/amazons-video-library-has-grown-big-on-amateur-content-11579792605" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Wall Street Journal</a> reports that Apple TV+ has 33.6 million subscribers, compared to 31.8 million for Hulu and 23.2 million for Disney+. Of course, a lot of those subscribers got the $4.99/month streaming service for free with the purchase of a new Mac, iPad, or iPhone.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">For close to two years now, the Shlayer Trojan has been the most common threat on the macOS platform: in 2019, one in 10 of its Ma security solutions encountered this malware at least once, according to <a href="https://securelist.com/shlayer-for-macos/95724/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Kasperky Lab</a>. It accounts for almost 30% of all detections for this operating system, adds researchers at the security company.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Apple has leased <a href="https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/01/23/apple-leases-triangle-building-san-jose-starts-upgrades-tech-office-develop-real-estate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">all six floors</a> of the 86,000-square-foot office building at 5300 Stevens Creek Blvd., in San Jose, California, according to public filings reported by <em>Mercury News</em>. It’s a six-floor office building dubbed the “Triangle Building” that’s located near the tech giant’s main Apple Park campus.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Would you use a 15-inch iPad Pro? How about a 27-incher? In a Jan. 21 <a href="https://www.imore.com/why-its-time-bigger-ipads" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iMore article</a>, Joseph Keller made an interesting argument for both (as well as a 17-inch tablet).</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">iPhone shipments in India grew 6% in 2019 compared with a 43% decline in the previous year, stabilizing its position in a rare market that still exhibits growth in smartphone demand, reports <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-23/apple-stemmed-iphone-sales-decline-in-india-ahead-of-better-2020?srnd=technology-vp" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bloomberg</a>.</p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;"><a href="http://www.jamf.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Jamf</a>, which develops "Apple in the enterprise” solutions, says Jamf Connect can now be directly configured in Jamf Pro, combining the IT workflows of Jamf Pro and the streamlined Mac authentication and identity management capabilities of Jamf Connect into one integrated experience. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Basecamp, Crunch Fitness, Orange Theory, and YMCA gyms are launching new “Apple Watch Connected” experiences inside gyms in the U.S., according to <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/23/apple-watch-connected-gyms-announced-in-us.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">CNBC</a>. Members can get discounts for working out, use Apple Pay to buy stuff, book classes on their Apple Watch, and more. </p>

<p class="" style="white-space:pre-wrap;">Is Apple planning to make photo accessories for its iPhone line? The company is at least considering it, as evidenced by a new patent filing (number 20200026033) for a "folded telephoto camera lens system.” </p>
