<p class="">The rumor mill is abuzz this morning with talk of products that may or may not be introduced at the <a href="https://appleworld.dreamhosters.com/blog/2020/10/6/look-for-iphone-12-line-up-and-more-at-october-13-hi-speed-virtual-apple-event" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">October 13 “Hi, Speed” Apple event</a>. Here’s a roundup of the rumors and the Sellers Research Group’s (that’s me) take on them.</p>

<p class="">If, like me, you’re an Apple Watch owner, I hope you’re not as klutzy as Yours Truly. Since I wear my smartwatch pretty much all the time, I tend to bang it into things (or people if I’m playing ball) and am always concerned about leaving scratches on the screen.</p>

<p class="">Hearing Components has announced Comply Foam Tips 2.0 for Apple AirPods Pro. Comply President Chris Hudson says it's a new memory foam ear tip that optimizes performance, provides all-day comfort and a secure in-ear fit.</p>

<p class="">Another day, another lawsuit. A new class action lawsuit accuses Apple of enjoying monopoly power in the iOS gaming and uses anticompetitive behavior to maintain its stranglehold, according to <a href="https://appleinsider.com/articles/20/10/08/lawsuit-alleges-apple-blocks-cloud-gaming-apps-to-stifle-apple-arcade-competition" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">AppleInsider</a>.</p>

<p class="">If you bought a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac or iPod touch in or after September 2019, you were automatically eligible for a free year of Apple TV+. The freebie year would expire starting in October, but apparently has been extended.</p>

<p class="">Over 120 shortlisted buildings have won the prestigious 2020 American Architecture Awards for the best new buildings designed and constructed by American architects in the U.S. and abroad and by international architects for buildings designed and built in the United States. Apple’s Carnegie Library in Washington D.C. took home an award in the Restoration/Renovation category.</p>

<p class="">In his first TV job since winning an Emmy for <em>True Detective</em> and following with the Emma Stone-Justin Hill series <em>Maniac</em>, Cary Joji Fukunaga will direct the first three episodes of Masters of the Air, the Apple TV+ World War II epic limited series from Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and Tom Hanks & Gary Goetzman’s Playtone, reports <a href="https://deadline.com/2020/10/masters-of-the-air-cary-joji-fukunaga-director-apple-series-amblin-playtone-steven-spielberg-tom-hanks-gary-goetzman-james-bond-no-time-to-die-1234589853/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Deadline.</a> This will also be his first directing assignment since helming the James Bond film <em>No Time To Die.</em></p>

<p class="">A <a href="http://www.macvoices.com/macvoices-20230-apples-responsibilities-to-competitors-with-the-daily-observations-crew-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">new episode of MacVoices</a> sees the second part of Bryan Chaffin, Kelly Guimont, and John Martellaro joining host Chuck Joiner to discuss — in the first part of a two-part series — on Apple’s relationship to its competitors, investors, and users.</p>

<p class="">Synology Inc. has launched the <a href="https://www.synology.com/en-us/products/solid_state_drives/SAT5200" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">3.84 terabyte SAT5200 2.5" solid-state drive</a>. Julien Chen, Product Manager for Synology solid state drives, says it’s “designed foe users requiring high capacity and reliable storage arrays, all the while sustaining high performance low-latency operations for mission-critical work.”</p>

<p class="">The Peabody Award-winning Apple Original comedy series, <em>Dickinson,</em> will officially return for its second season on Friday, January 8, 2021, exclusively on Apple TV+. Apple has released a first look at season two, and announced that the series has scored an early renewal for a third season.</p>

<p class="">Apple <a href="https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2020/10/apple-and-gallaudet-university-foster-innovation-in-education/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">says</a> that this summer, Gallaudet University students and faculty received a special welcome kit. Inside, they found some essential Bison gear — the school’s mascot — including a sweatshirt, stickers, and a notebook. What’s more, every student and faculty member was equipped with a new iPad Pro, Apple Pencil, and Smart Keyboard Folio.</p>

<p class="">The global podcasting market size is expected to reach US$41.8 billion by 2026, rising at a market growth of 24.6% compound annual growth rate during the forecast period, according to <a href="http://www.researchandmarkets.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Research and Markets</a>.</p>

<p class="">Adobe <a href="https://blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2020/10/08/introducing-adobe-photoshop-elements-2021-and-premiere-elements-2021.html#gs.i6nooz" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">has introduced</a> Photoshop Elements 2021 and Premiere Elements 2021, updates of the Mac-compatible graphics editor and video editing/organizer app.</p>

<p class="">Consumers in the third quarter downloaded 33 billion new apps globally and spent a record US$28 billion in apps — up 20% year-over-year, according to new data from App Annie — as noted by <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2020/10/08/consumers-spent-record-28-billion-in-apps-in-q3-aided-by-pandemic/">TechCrunch</a>.</p>
