China’s smartphone sales hit a fresh low in quarter two of 2022 to reach less than half of the sales of the historical peak in quarter four of 2016, according to Counterpoint Research. The last time the sales were lower than this point was nearly a decade ago in the fourth quarter of 2012, when the iPhone 5 was introduced.
Capturing a 19.8% share, vivo retained its first place in Q2 2022, followed by HONOR (18.3%) and OPPO (17.9%). Apple took the fourth position with a 15.5% share.
However, the iPhone maker’s influence is apparently widespread. According to Counterpoint Research, HONOR and Xiaomi have been benchmarking their high-end models against Apple by incorporating several iPhone features.
