How to replace an Apple Watch using the Watch app on your iPhone

If you bought a new Apple Watch, you’ll probably want to replace a previous model on the Watch app on the iPhone.

If you bought a new Apple Watch, you’ll probably want to replace a previous model on the Watch app on the iPhone. Here’s how:

Unpair Your Old Apple Watch

  • Keep your old Apple Watch and iPhone close together.
  • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and go to the My Watch tab.
  • Tap All Watches at the top of the screen.
  • Tap the information button (the letter “i”) next to the name of the watch you want to replace.
  • Tap Unpair Apple Watch, then tap it again to confirm.
  • Enter your Apple Account password to turn off Activation Lock.
  • Wait for the unpairing process to finish. Your iPhone will automatically create a backup of your old watch before wiping it.
