Survey: 21% of shoppers have abandoned a cart because a retailer didn’t offer Apple Pay or Google Wallet

Walmart is rolling out Apple Pay and Google Pay nationwide (starting in Arkansas this week). It's good timing, too: new data shows that 21% of shoppers have abandoned a cart because a retailer didn't offer Apple Pay or Google Wallet.

Walmart is rolling out Apple Pay and Google Pay nationwide (starting in Arkansas this week). It’s good timing, too: new data shows that 21% of shoppers have abandoned a cart because a retailer didn’t offer Apple Pay or Google Wallet.

FinanceBuzz partnered with Bank of America and surveyed 2,000 Americans about how they browse, buy, and interact with online retailers. Here are some highlights from the survey:

  • 85% of shoppers pay for at least one subscription service built around free or faster delivery, led by Amazon Prime and Walmart+, with smaller shares paying for DashPassTarget Circle 360, or Instacart+
  • Nearly 7-in-10 avoid retailers without free returns. One-quarter even purchase multiple versions of a product, planning to send one back.
  • 1-in-3 say online shopping has made budgeting harder, a group that skews heavily Gen Z.
