macOS 26.7 release candidates hints at LOTS of upcoming Apple devices

The macOS 26.7 release candidate contains references to several unreleased Apple devices.

The macOS 26.7 release candidate contains references to several unreleased Apple devices. Let’s look at what’s (possibly) coming.

  • MacBook Ultra: This is the suspected name of the upcoming Mac laptop (14-inch and 16-inch models) with an OLED display touchscreen, M6 processor, and, possibly, a cellular option. It’s expected to arrive either later this year or in early 2027.
  • A 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M6 processor, but few design changes, is expected this fall.
  • iMacs: Also due this fall, the update of the 24-inch all-in-one will likely sport an M5 or M6 processor in the same design, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. But no 27-inch “pro” version is expected.
  • Home hub: Perhaps to be called the “HomePad,” it will apparently run an operating system dubbed “homeOS” — which is rumored to be codenamed “Pebble” and cost $350.  It’s expected to be offered in standalone and wall-mountable options.
  • HomePod mini. An update is expected this fall with Apple-designed Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip. The chip will likely support Wi-Fi 6E, though Apple may not be able to match all of Broadcom’s chip capabilities with the first-generation in-house Wi-Fi chip. There will almost certainly be new color options for the HomePod minis.
  • Home Accessory. This likely the home security camera Apple is purportedly working on. The company is also rumored to be working on its own “smart” doorbell.
  • AirPods with cameras. Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman says  camera-equipped AirPods should arrive in late 2027. The camera would serve as infrared sensors, not for taking photos, he added. The AirPods would purportedly look akin to the AirPods Pro 3, but with cameras embedded in the stem. An included light will inform people around the wearer when the cameras are feeding data to ‌Siri‌.
  • iPad mini. Predicted to arrive in October, it likely will pack a faster processor, but have no design changes.
  • A new Apple TV remote. This would likely work with an updated Apple TV 4K set-top box with, as with the HomePod mini, have an Apple-designed Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip. There are rumors that the price will be lowered to $99.
  • A new headset. This could be a second generation Vision Pro (unlikely, in my opinion) or the rumored “Apple Glasses.” The tech giant’s version of smart glasses expected to be unveiled late this year or in early 2027 with a ship date in spring or summer of next year.

There are also references to various upcoming iPhone models. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to arrive next month, followed shortly thereafter by then first foldable iPhone. A standard iPhone, iPhone 18e, and a second generation iPhone Air are predicted to arrive in the first half of 2027.
