iPhone 18 Pro will reportedly keep its aluminum build (and subsequent paint peeling problems)

In a Weibo post — as noted by MacRumors — the leaker known as “Fixed Digital Focus” says the iPhone 18 Pro will retain its aluminum alloy build, but warns that the new color options may be susceptible to paint peeling.

He/she claims surface chipping on the ‌iPhone 17 Pro‌ is a common complaint, and that Apple tells users that the issue is an inherent characteristic of the aluminum alloy material and normal wear and tear.

Apple is expected to debut the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in September or October, and the “standard” iPhone 18 and an iPhone 18e in early 2027. As for the foldable iPhone, it’s expected late this year — unless design issues push it to 2027. You can find a roundup of iPhone 18 rumors here
