Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone is (mostly) impressing a handful of folks who’ve gotten hands-on time with the device, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter.
He says those who have used the smartphone — likely to be dubbed either the “iPhone Ultra” or “iPhone Fold” — like the size, apparent durability of the hinge, and its new iPad-like app layouts.
However, Gurman says they’re not overly impressed with its camera. Mainly, the device lacks a telephoto lens. Another compromise: the foldable iPhone will fall back on Touch ID integrated into the side button instead of in-display Face ID.
The “iPhone Fold” is expected to launch around the same time (or perhaps a few weeks later) than the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, ranges from $2,000 to $2,500 USD, with Wall Street and supply chain analysts leaning toward a base entry point around $2,199 to $2,300.
