First Samsung and Google did it, and now Apple is preparing to raise prices on its iPhone line, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter.
Apple has already hiked prices on most of its products. For example, Mac and iPad prices rose about 23%. Gurman says a price hike on the iPhone is practically “inevitable” with the ongoing memory crunch, though we should see a “fairly modest bump.”
He says Apple has eyeing how much Samsung and Google have implemented price hikes. Both companies raised prices on their latest smartphones by about $100. Matching that increase would put the iPhone 18 Pro’s starting price at $1,199, up about 9% from the current iPhone 17 Pro’s $1,099 starting price, notes MacRumors.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are almost certain to be announced next month, with the first foldable iPhone debuting about the same time (or perhaps in October). A standard iPhone 18, an iPhone 18e, and a second generation iPhone Air are anticipated in the first half of 2027.
