Recently a series of storms arrived in my Nashville, Tennessee, neighborhood. My iPhone conveniently alerted me with an “Imminent Threat Alert” message.
However, the message kept popping up after the storms were over. If this happens to you, swipe left firmly on the notification to reveal and tap the “Clear” button.
If it remains stuck, try these steps:
- Swipe & Clear: Unlock your iPhone and swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Notification Center. Find the stuck alert, swipe it firmly to the left, and tap Clear.
- Drag and Dismiss: If your text size is enlarged, the “Clear” button may be hidden. Press and hold your finger on the alert, and drag it manually to the left to expose the clear option.
- Toggle Alert Settings: Go to Settings > Notifications, scroll to the very bottom, and turn off Public Safety Alerts or Emergency Alerts. Restart your device, then re-enable the settings if you wish.
- Force Restart: If the alert persists, perform a force restart:
- Press and quickly release the Volume Up button.
- Press and quickly release the Volume Down button.
- Press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.
