Apple’s foldable iPhone purportedly running into production issues

Apple’s foldable iPhone — which may be dubbed the “iPhone Fold” or “iPhone Ultra” is running into mass production issues, the leaker known as “Fixed Focus Digital” says in an X post.

He/she claims the problem isn’t with the hinge design, but is due to surface-mount technology (SMT) during pre-assembly. “Fixed Focus Digital” says production yields aren’t ramping up as much as expected.

However, an X posty the Weibo leaker known as “Instant Digital” claims that Apple has indeed experienced some design issues. He/she says the tech giant has acknowledged the issue.

The iPhone Fold/Ultra is still expected to arrive this year — sometime after the roll-out of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September or October. However, if there are design issues, it could be pushed to early 2027, when the standard iPhone 18 and an iPhone 18e are expected to debut.
