AppleCare coverage for the iPhone Duo will include a US$99 full inner display replacement or $19 “cover layer” swap in case there are noticeable crease issues. 

An interview with Kate Bergeron, Apple’s vice president of hardware engineering, shared by 9to5Mac, reveals that Apple’s intention with the removable cover layer is an option for user replacement after wearing in the existing layer. She said that Apple engineered the cover layer to wear in for as long as possible before a user might need to replace it.

If you’re planning on getting an iPhone Duo, you can take advantage of the the “Get Ready” process starting on Monday, October 12. The info has been added to the iPhone Duo product page, which says to “Come back on 10.12 to get ready for pre‑order.” 

Get Ready lets you choose a preferred color and capacity for the foldable iPhone, confirm your carrier status, choose accessories, choose an AppleCare+ plan, select a trade-in, add a payment method, and set a shipping and billing address.

Currently, pre-orders for the iPhone Due begin Friday, October 16, with availability beginning Friday, October 23. It will be available in star white and night sky with prices starting at US $1,999 or $83.29 per month for 24 months, in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB storage capacities.
