How to use your HDTV with macOS Tahoe

You can easily connect your Mac with an HDTV for watching videos or — though I don’t recommend it — using the television as an external display. Let’s look at how to do this in macOS Tahoe

Using AirPlay to stream your Mac’s display to an HDTV

AirPlay Mirroring lets you send what’s on your Mac to an HDTV wirelessly with an Apple TV set-top box. To use the feature:

° Make sure your Mac and Apple TV are on the same network.

° Click Control Center in the menu bar, and click Screen Mirroring.

° Choose your Apple TV.

° If asked, enter a four-digit code on your Mac.

° To set whether your desktop mirrors or extends your Mac screen, click the Screen Mirroring icon.

° Choose Mirror Built-in Display or Use As Separate Display.

Connecting a Mac to a TV with a cable

You can also connect your Mac to a TV with a cable. Once you’ve done this, go to Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Displays in the sidebar to see your displays’ settings, including resolution, brightness, and color profile.

You can also decide whether to extend or mirror your Mac desktop across multiple displays across your external displays.
