How to enable backlighting on the Magic Keyboard for iPad

To enable the backlight on the Magic Keyboard for iPad, you can use the Control Center or adjust the settings in the Settings app. The backlight will automatically adjust based on ambient light, but you can manually control it.

Using Control Center

  1. Swipe down from the top-right corner of your iPad’s screen to open Control Center.
  2. Tap the Keyboard Brightness button, which looks like a sun over a keyboard.
  3. If you don’t see this button, go to Settings > Control Center and tap the green plus icon next to “Keyboard Brightness” to add it.
  4. Once the control is open, tap and hold the slider to adjust the brightness or tap the icon to toggle the backlight on/off.

Using the Settings app

  1. Go to Settings on your iPad.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Tap Keyboard.
  4. Tap Hardware Keyboard.
  5. Use the Keyboard Brightness slider to adjust the backlight.
