Maybe the rumored ‘iPhone Fold’ will have Face ID after all

if Apple decides to add Face ID, to the rumored "iPhone Fold," it won’t be available on the external display.

Earlier this month Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station said the rumored foldable iPhone will integrate an under-screen camera into its folding display, but the module is unlikely to include TrueDepth components that make up Face ID.

However, a new rumor says an “iPhone Fold” could have Face ID, after all. According to news aggregator yeux1122 — as noted by BGR — Face ID could still be included. However, if Apple decides to add Face ID, it won’t be available on the external display, as the device will only feature a punch-hole front-facing camera. “Yeux1122” says that Apple could integrate Face ID into the internal display of the smartphone.

The “iPhone Fold” is expected to arrive next year. Here’s a round-up of the current rumors about the foldable smartphone:

° The inner display will be approximately 7.76 inches with a resolution of will use a 2,713 x 1,920 resolution and feature “under-screen camera technology.”

° The outer display will purportedly be 5.49 inches with 2,088 x 1,422 resolution and will have a punch-hole camera.

° Touch ID returns as a side button.

° The rear camera features a dual-lens setup, with one front-facing camera available in both folded and unfolded states.

° It will measure 9–9.5mm thick when folded and 4.5–4.8mm when unfolded.

° The hinge will combine stainless steel and titanium alloy, while the casing opts for titanium alloy.

° It will use the same high-density battery cells as the ultra-thin iPhone 17.
