Speck has announced the US$39.99 CandyShell Icon, a “reinterpretation” of the company’s long-running CandyShell line of iPhone cases. It adds a glossy finish and candy-inspired color ways. The CandyShell also offer protective features and more grip-ability than its predecessors.
The slim case boasts dual-layer protection. Upon impact, the cushioning tech compresses to absorb shock and resist damage. The folks at tech say the CandyShell Icon provides up to 13-foot drop protection. I’ll take their word for it, as I’m not going to drop my pricey iPhone to test it.
No-slip inverted grips across the back provide a comfortable hold on your iPhone. A raised bezel adds protection around the screen, helping reduce the risk of scratches, cracks, and other damage should the smartphone fall face down.
The CandyShell Icon is MagSafe compatible, a must for any modern iPhone case. A built-in Camera Control button provides easy access to camera functions.
What makes the CandyShell Icon stand out from other cases is its fun factor. Not only is it a good case, but it comes in sour apple, tangerine source vanilla frost, grape soda, berry taffy, blue raspberry, bubblegum pop “flavors.”
