The first generation HomeView hasn’t arrived yet, but Apple is already planning a follow-up (and bigger version), Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman in an October “Power On” newsletter. A new report backs up this claim.
Gurman said the tech giant plans a smart home hub with a larger 9-inch screen that can swivel a full 360 degrees on a robotic arm in 2027 or 2028. He added that possible names for the biggie-sized device are the “HomeView Max,” “HomeView Ultra,” and “HomeView 360.”
Now a report from The Information (a subscription is required to read the article) says there’s a prototype of the device equipped with a 9-inch display on a swiveling arm, with its overall design said to look similar to the iMac G4 or Pixar’s lamp mascot. The current HomeView has a 7-inch screen.
“The current design for the robot envisions it using a camera and sensors to be fully aware of its environment and act autonomously, allowing it to turn on the lights when someone walks into a room—or perhaps even try to tell a cat to get off a table,” The Information claims. “It is meant to be smart enough to avoid accidentally hitting objects around it.”
