A new survey from Howdy.com polled knowledge workers who use AI daily on their approach to agents and results were mixed at best:

  • 71% said fewer than half of AI agents make it to stable deployment
  • Workers spend 3 hours on average weekly troubleshooting agents
  • 93% have encountered issues due to bad instructions or documentation internally
  • 40% say their agents “sometimes” fail
  • 54% of workers feel confident with AI, but nearly 1 in 10 still feel behind
  • Only 28% of workers say their workplace is clear on who owns AI output

One-in-four have had to deactivate an agent fully, usually due to inconsistency. Seven percent reported their agent went rogue. Workers spent an average of 8.4 hours troubleshooting before they scrapped it.
