Your iPhone and iPad have the ability to create “Memoji” characters that can be created and customized right within Messages by choosing from a set of inclusive and diverse characteristics to form a unique personality. To create your own in iOS 26 and iPadOS 26:
Open the Messages app and open any chat or start a new message.
Tap the Plus (+) icon next to the text entry field.
Swipe up or scroll through the menu and tap Memoji.
Tap the New Memoji (+) button (if you already have one, tap the three dots or swipe to find the plus sign).
Pick and change features like skin tone, hair style, eyes, head shape, and clothes.
Tap Done in the top corner to save your new custom Memoji.
