To listen to news on a HomePod, simply say, “Hey Siri, what’s in the news today?” Siri will play a daily news briefing from major sources like NPR, ABC, CNN, or the BBC. You can also request specific topics or switch between networks using these commands:

  • For general news: “Hey Siri, what’s the news?”
  • For a specific source: “Hey Siri, play NPR News” or “Hey Siri, play the news from BBC.”
  • For a specific topic: “Hey Siri, give me the latest sports news” or “Hey Siri, play business news.”

You can also control playback with standard voice commands like “Hey Siri, skip forward 30 seconds,” “Hey Siri, play this faster,” or “Hey Siri, pause.”

If you have an Apple News+ subscription, you can ask Siri to play specific audio stories or the Apple News Today briefing.

To easily access the news exactly how you want it, you can tell Siri which outlet to use as your default provider
