This year’s WWDC keynote wasn’t that exciting — but that’s okay.

When asked what my favorite announcement was at Apple’s Worldwide Development Conference this week, I had to admit I didn’t have one.

However, I am glad that Apple seems to be upgrading all its operating systems with performance tweaks and bug fixes rather than a host of new features. Not that I’m against new features — I love ‘em — but it’s time that Apple focused on stability and consistency.

That said, I have to admit that the WWDC keynote wasn’t as exciting as most have been in the past. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I found it interesting that Apple deviated from its long-time tradition of addressing each operating system — macOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS — separately. This year Apple concentrated on cross-platform integration and, no surprise, artificial intelligence.

As for BIG NEWS, that’s likely to happen this fall with the debut of a foldable iPhone, smart home products, and, I hope, the “MacBook Ultra.” It’s the latter product I’ve saving my moolah for.
