In his latest “Power On” newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple’s iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 will offer more emoji options that include Genmoji.
Genmoji is an Apple feature that lets users create custom emojis using generative AI by typing a description or choosing from a person in their photo library. Gurman says that iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 will offer a feature called Suggested Genmoji. You’ll see Genmoji produced using commonly-typed phrases, mashed up with your Photos.
However, for those who don’t like the feature, there will purportedly be a toggle to disable the feature, hiding the new graphics from view.
From Gurman’s post: Now, for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, Apple is planning a small change that it seemingly hopes will increase adoption of the feature: Suggested Genmoji.“Suggested Genmoji are created from your photos and your commonly typed phrases,” reads a new toggle in the keyboard settings of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. The capability will be optional in the next iPhone and iPad software update.
iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and visionOS 27 will be previewed at next month’s Worldwide Developer Conference. And the Apple Watch 12 line-up will likely arrive in September or October.
