Apple plans to add new Apple Intelligence photo editing tools to the Photos app in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.

Apple plans to add new Apple Intelligence photo editing tools to the Photos app in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, reports Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman (a subscription is required to read the article).

The operating system updates will be unveiled at June’s Worldwide Developer Conference and likely roll out to users in September or October. According to Gurman, the Photos app in the updated operating systems will have an ‌Apple Intelligence‌ Tools section when editing an image. Options will include:

  • Extend will allow users to “generate additional image content beyond the original frame.
  • Enhance will automatically improve an image’s quality, as well as aspects like lighting and colors.
  • Reframe will let users “shift perspective” for spatial photos.Gurman says the processing for the new Photos features will be done on-device (iPhone, iPad, and Mac).
