In a new post, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that at least three iPhone 17 models will Feature 12GB of DRAM.

From his post: Apple’s 2H25 new iPhone 17 models, including the Pro Max, Pro, and ultra-thin, are now expected to feature 12GB of DRAM (vs. my earlier estimate that only the Pro Max would have this upgrade).

Apple aims to equip the iPhone 17 base model with 12GB as well, but potential supply shortages remain a concern. The company is finalizing its assessment and expects to make a decision by May.Even If the 2H25 iPhone 17 base model retains 8GB this year, all 2H26 new iPhone models are expected to feature 12GB.

The average selling price (ASP) for 12GB is about 50% higher than for 8GB, significantly boosting main suppliers Micron and SK Hynix. Apple’s more ambitious DRAM upgrade strategy stems from intensifying competition in the smartphone market.

The new iPhones should arrive in September or October.
