Apple has canned its plans for a hardware subscription service that would let customers “subscribe” to get a new iPhone each year, reports Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman (a subscription is required to read the article).
In 2022, he reported that Apple was planning a new hardware subscription service that would allow customers to “subscribe” and receive an iPhone, iPad, and maybe other devices as part of their subscription. They would purportedly pay a monthly fee for the service and could be tied to the Apple One and/or AppleCare bundles.
However, now Gurman says that issues such as regulatory concerns, software issues, and more have led Apple to abandon the plan. He says Apple has assigned the folks working on the project other areas.
