Are children becoming more vulnerable due to their parent’s social media habits? A new survey by Hosting Advice finds that 64% of parents with children under 10 actively post their children’s photos on social media.
Despite this, 81% of parents with kids 17 and under are becoming increasingly concerned about their children’s online privacy, with fears of predators (55%), unauthorized use of images (48%), and privacy invasions (39%) topping the list. From there report:
- 19% cover their children’s faces when posting pictures online
- Kids make up an average of 30% of their parents’ social media posts
- Nearly 1 in 10 parents tag their location when posting pictures of their children
The concept of “sharenting” is gaining scrutiny, as 60% of parents are worried about sharing too much and 35% want to reduce their social media presence in the next year. 1 in 10 think they share too much about their children online.
