Next upgrade of AirPods Pro rumored to have better Active Noise Cancellation

Apple has released new firmware for the Lightning and USB-C versions of the AirPods Pro. It includes support for the new features in iOS 18 for the wearables.

New (non-Pro) AirPods are expected to be unveiled at Apple’s September 9 “It’s Glowtime” event, but no AirPod Pro upgrades. However, we might get such upgrades before year’s end.

As noted by BGR, according to leaker Kosutami on X, the new AirPods Pro will have “much better Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) than previous versions.”

ANC uses advanced digital signal processing algorithms to analyze the incoming audio signal and generate an opposite sound wave to cancel the outside noise. For AirPods Pro 2, Apple made it better with Adaptive Mode, which combines Transparency and ANC so that you can hear your surroundings but have the audio adjusted when there’s traffic or construction noise, for example.
