A new rumor says Apple is working on an iMac with a 30-inch (or bigger) display.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says A larger iMac remains something Apple is exploring as well, but it’s unclear if that will be an M4 product or something that comes the following year or later.
Rumors of a bigger iMac (“iMac Pro,” perhaps?) have been around for years. In October 2021, Display Supply Chain Consultants CEO Ross Young predicted a larger (27-inch, not 30-inch) all-in-one with the following features:
° Mini-LED backlighting, which likely means that it will have XDR branding.
° The iMac will feature ProMotion, allowing for an adaptive refresh rate between 24Hz and 120Hz.
Young didn’t say what the resolution of the 27-inch iMac will be, but the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) will be shocked if it’s not 5K.
I would like Apple to drop the iMac line in favor of new slimmer Mac minis mounted onto the back of an expanded range their monitors, designed more like the iMacs.
