Apple has secured lower prices for OLED displays for the iPhone 18 Pro models, according to the South Korean site, DealSite (as translated).
Quoting unnamed “industry sources,” the articles says Apple has asked Samsung Display and LG Display to significantly lower the supply price of OLED panels. If the panel price of the iPhone 17 Pro Max released last year was about US$110-120 dollars, Apple hopes to reduce it to about $68 for the iPhone 18 Pro line.
The tech giant wants lower display costs since the ongoing memory chip shortage, due to companies building out powerful AI data centers, is expected to cause a price hike in almost all the company’s products.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max should arrive win September, followed by a foldable iPhone — expected to be dubbed either the “iPhone Fold” or “iPhone Ultra” — in October. The non-Pro iPhone 18, an iPhone 18e, and second generation iPhone Air are anticipated in the first half of 2027.)
