Tim Cook: Apple will donate to local relief efforts for winter storm-ravaged Texas

In a tweet, CEO Tim Cook says Apple will donate to local relief efforts to aid the state of Texas, which is in the grip of a major winter storm.

“Our hearts are with everyone across Texas and around the US, including many of our team members, as they endure the impact of the harsh winter storms,” he says. “Apple will be making a financial contribution to local, community-based organizations to support their relief efforts.”

At least 34 deaths have been attributed to the storm across the South, 20 of them in Texas. And the number of people in Texas without running, drinkable water dwarfed the number of homes and businesses without power Friday morning as the state continued to struggle to recover from the storm that paralyzed it with a blanket of snow, ice and frigid temperatures, according to CBS News.
