Smanos brings home security to the Apple Watch

Smanos is a company that markets wireless smart home and security devices, and today the company announced that the iOS apps for its L020, W100, and W020 systems now work on the Apple Watch.

The W020 is a $149 Wi-Fi alarm system that hooks to a WI-Fi router, then connects to sensors and accessories like door and window switches (two included), keypads, sirens, webcams (one included), and gas and smoke detectors. The $129 L020 does away with the webcam, but features the switches and can use all available accessories, while the $199 W100 adds an HD camera, a motion detector, and a touch panel to the mix.

Regardless of the system used, users can arm and disarm their systems and receive alerts on the Apple Watch. If a motion sensor is triggered, someone opens or closes a door or window, or a water detector “feels” a flooded basement, the owner gets an immediate alert on the Apple Watch.

It’s a pretty cool use of both the Apple Watch and do-it-yourself home security systems!
