Rumor: work at Catcher hints at upcoming Apple AR headset

Adding fuel to the rumors (which are almost certainly true) that Apple is working on an augmented reality (AR) headset, the company’s chassis supplier Catcher Technology has revealed it’s working on a product line outside of its usual categories.

Catcher chairman Allen Horng tells DigiTimes that the company will start supplying chassis for a brand new product line outside of its existing work in making casings for smartphones and laptops. Since Apple has been showing interest in developing an AR head-mounted display (HMD), market watchers are speculating that this new product line could be connected with the US-based vendor.

Chances this rumor is true, according to the Sellers Research Group (that’s me). 90%. It’s not a matter of if Apple will release an AR headset, but when (my money says 2019).
