Apple dives to 84th place on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list

Apple came in at 84th place on Glassdoor’s 2018 Best Places to Work in the U.S. It’s the tech giant’s lowest finish ever.

The workplace review and ratings site lists 100 best places to work in the U.S. with 1,000 or more employees, and 50 small and medium companies to work for with less than 1,000 employees.

I’m not sure why Apple plummeted in the rankings. It’s placement on the previous 10 Glassdoor lists were 36, 25, 22, 35, 34, 10, 20, 22, and 19.

Glassdoor’s annual awards are based on anonymous, voluntary employee input about their workplace over the past year. Ratings are based on a five-point scale, 1.0 being very dissatisfied and 5.0 being very satisfied.

Apple earned a 4.3-star rating out of five during that period, compared to Facebook’s leading 4.6-star rating. Glassdoor — which described itself as “the world’s most transparent jobs and recruiting marketplace” — says the average company rating is 3.3 stars among the more than 700,000 employers reviewed on the jobs site.

The companies on the list are: Facebook, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, In-N-Out Burger, Google, Lululemon, HubSpoot, World Wide Technology, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and Ultimate Software.
