Rumor: the 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus is coming next year

Forget the iPhone X; it’s already old news. I want the iPhone X Plus.

In a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider — KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple has a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone planned for the second half of 2018 that would be the general size of a Plus-sized iPhone and add an edge-to-edge OLED display.

The iPhone X sports a 5.8-inch display. Kuo says the tech giant is also working on a new LCD model with a large 6.1-inch display that will be targeted toward the low-end and mid-range smartphone markets.

The LCD model will “differ significantly” from the OLED models, according to Kuo. For instance, it will pack a lower-resolution display to keep pricing between $650 and $750. However, Kuo adds that the LCD model will feature Face ID and advanced cameras to replace Touch ID.

Chances the rumor is true, according to the Sellers Research Firm (that’s me): 100%. Kuo is right on the money; both of the iPhone upgrades he predicts will arrive within the next 12 months.
