Rumor: Apple postpones its planned March special event

Expecting a March “special event” by Apple? It’s been postponed due to, among other things, the coronavirus restrictions, according to Cult of Mac. The article says the tech giant grew “concerned” about bringing together 1,000 people for the event, originally planned for late March at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park (pictured) in Cupertino, California.

The event was expected to see the announcement of the follow-up to the iPhone SE 2, two iPad Pros, and perhaps other products such as “Apple Tags,” Tile-like devices that could be attached to other devices to help you keep track of them. No word on when/if the event will be rescheduled.

Chances the rumor is true, according to the Sellers Research Group (that’s me): 100%. I doubt Apple had any choice since the County of Santa Clara Public Health has issued an order canceling mass gatherings due to increasing rates of the coronavirus.
