PayAnywhere, Apple to offer Apple Pay-ready mobile credit card reader

Apple is teaming up with American Bancard’s PayAnywhere to introduce a new version of its PayAnywhere Mobile credit card reader, which will be ready for Apple Pay. The NFC card reader will be available exclusively in U.S. Apple Stores and at Apple’s online store next month.

PayAnywhere is a go-to mobile credit card reader for businesses and individuals who want to accept Apple Pay. Available for iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad, this new PayAnywhere Mobile reader accepts Apple’s payment system, other contactless NFC payments, traditional magnetic stripe credit cards and is EMV-capable. PayAnywhere is also offering merchants US$5,000 free in Apple Pay transaction processing with a new PayAnywhere account.

The PayAnywhere device will retail for US$39.95. The PayAnywhere Mobile app is free at the Apple App Store.

Apple announced Apple Pay in September 2014, describing it as “a new category of service designed to transform mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay.” It works with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus through a NFC antenna design, a dedicated chip called the Secure Element, and Touch ID.
